Testosterone builds muscle and strength and can make muscles look fuller. Some of the extra scale weight is water, not new muscle. Enanthate, cypionate and other esters release the same hormone at different speeds. Main downsides are acne, possible hair loss, higher blood pressure and blood counts, estrogen-related bloating or breast changes, and suppressed natural testosterone and fertility.

Practical details
Studied dose
600 mg testosterone enanthate by intramuscular injection once weekly
Study duration
10 weeks
Route / formulation
Intramuscular injection; enanthate ester
Randomized muscle-size and strength trial in 43 healthy men, with and without resistance training. This was supraphysiologic research exposure, not a TRT dose or a recommended cycle.
Known for
Muscle and strength gains · Fullness with possible water gain · Replacement of confirmed testosterone deficiency
Main drawbacks
Raised hematocrit and blood pressure
Acne, susceptible hair loss and breast changes
Suppressed sperm production and natural testosterone
Common injectable esters
Enanthate · Cypionate · Propionate

Evidence
Controlled trials show dose-dependent gains in fat-free mass and strength at supraphysiologic exposure. Exogenous testosterone also suppresses LH/FSH and sperm production.
Interactions & monitoring
Erythrocytosis, acne, infertility/testicular suppression, gynecomastia, blood-pressure and lipid changes; cardiovascular risk rises with nonmedical AAS exposure.
