Tamoxifen is discussed for gyno and can reduce breast tenderness and enlargement in some men. It blocks estrogen's action in breast tissue instead of lowering estrogen throughout the body. Results depend on the breast changes involved, and established tissue may remain. Hot flashes and nausea can occur, with blood clots and eye problems among the serious risks.
Small double-blind crossover study in men with gynecomastia. Breast-size reduction was partial; this is a study description, not a PCT or self-treatment recommendation.
Small controlled male studies support benefit for recent/painful gynecomastia, but established fibrotic tissue may respond poorly.
Venous thromboembolism, stroke risk, visual effects, liver changes and drug interactions.
Health problem link: clinician-confirmed recent/painful gynecomastia; evaluate tumors, medications and endocrine causes.
Approved for breast-cancer treatment/risk reduction; male gynecomastia and AAS/PCT use are off-label.
